How to Save Twitch Clips as MP4

Twitch clips are easy to make and just as easy to lose. Here's how to keep the ones that matter.

Clips vs. full VODs

A Twitch clip is a short, separately-hosted highlight — usually under a minute — cut from a longer stream, with its own clips.twitch.tv link.

Full VODs (the entire stream recording) are a different, much larger format and aren't something a clip downloader is built to handle.

Saving a clip

Copy the clip's link from the address bar or the Share button under the clip player, then paste it into a downloader built for Twitch.

The saved file matches exactly what's visible in the clip, including any webcam overlay or chat replay that was baked into the recording.

Why streamers and viewers save clips

Editors compiling highlight reels, streamers building a portfolio, and viewers wanting to reshare a funny moment outside Twitch all rely on having a local copy rather than just a link that could later be deleted.
