How to Download YouTube Videos on iPhone (Without an App)
iOS doesn't offer a built-in way to save YouTube videos to your camera roll. Here's the browser-based workaround.
Why iPhone makes this harder than Android
iOS sandboxes apps more tightly than Android, so there's no system-level 'save video' option inside the YouTube app itself, and downloads through the app are locked to offline viewing within YouTube Premium only.
The workaround is to use Safari instead of the app, fetch the file through a web tool, and save it through the share sheet.
Step-by-step in Safari
Open the YouTube video in the YouTube app, tap Share, then Copy Link.
Switch to Safari, open AndBucket's YouTube downloader, and paste the link into the input box.
Tap Fetch, choose a resolution, then tap Download. Safari will prompt you to save the file, after which it appears in the Files app and can be moved to Photos from there.
A note on storage and quality
1080p videos can be large, so check available storage before downloading several at once.
If a download fails, the video is often private, age-restricted, or region-locked — those can't be processed by any browser-based tool.
